On April 23, the Modular Housing Zone at the Canton Fair drew large crowds on its opening day. One popular model featured a living room, bathroom, and balcony as standard, with optional extras such as air conditioning, floor heating, electric curtains, and a projector.
This is the first time the fair has set up a dedicated area for modular, expandable, and mobile housing. Overseas buyers showed strong interest, praising the designs as modern and functional.
Modular homes are prefabricated units that are easy to transport, install, and reuse. They’re widely used for site offices, worker dorms, emergency housing, and even holiday villas.
A representative from a participating company shared that prices depend on configuration, with export units priced similarly to those in the domestic market, approximately RMB 13,000 per unit or RMB 18,000–20,000 per square meter.
